BOARD OF DIRECTORSThe Board of SGTC is made up of persons whose academic background, wealth of experience, international exposure, and corporate visions provide dynamic and purposeful leadership.
DR. HERBERT O. ORJI; FCIB – CHAIRMAN & CEO Dr. Herbert O. Orji is an Investment Banker, Chartered Stockbroker and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (U.K & Nigeria). He is the Chairman & CEO of SUMMA GUARANTY & TRUST COMPANY PLC, a blue-chip member firm of the Nigerian Stock Exchange. Educated at Howard, graduating cum laude in Mathematics and Economics, and thereafter at George Washington University, American University, Univ. of Eastern Michigan, Union and Harvard Universities. He started his professional career with Riggs National Bank, Washington, DC as a computer systems programmer in 1973. From 1975-1979, he served as a Management Trainee, Manager-Commercial Accounts, Assistant Treasurer and a Second Vice-President of American Express Bank, New York. For about five years, he worked in Commercial and Corporate Banking with the UBA Plc in Lagos and later as the Pioneer Representative & General Manager of UBA Plc, London with responsibilities for the U.K and Western Europe. In 1985, he was appointed the Managing Director & CEO of Progress Bank of Nigeria Plc and served meritoriously until his voluntary disengagement in 1991. Thereafter, he worked with the IFC as a Consulting Advisor on financial projects (e.g. Discount Houses) in Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya before joining SGTC PLC in 1993. Dr. Orji has published two best-selling books and over 50 articles on the leading edge of Banking, Finance, Investments and Development. He is the First Vice-Chairman of Goldcity Communication Holdings (U.K) Limited; Chairman of the Board of Business in Africa Group Ltd South Africa, and current President & Chairman of Council, African Banking & Finance Association (ABFA). He is the Chairman of the Research & Development Committee of the African Business Round table (ABR), the Pan-African organization that heads the NEPAD Business Group. He also served as the Vice-Chairman of the Industrial Training Fund (the federal government of Nigeria premier capacity building fund), a Director of African Development Insurance Company Limited (ADIC), Bio-Organics Nutrients Systems Nigeria Limited, International Wireless Incorporated, Houston , Texas; Gridline Communications Corporation, Houston, Texas and Tribex Technologies Corporation, Fairfax, Virginia. Dr. Orji is an active member of the US Corporate Council for Africa, having served as a member of its pioneer Board of Directors for three years simultaneously with his ABR board membership. The ABR in fact co-founded the US Corporate Council for Africa. Dr. Orji is a regular speaker at international conferences and workshops. He also lectures at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Nigeria; has lectured on Mergers, Acquisitions, Divestitures and Valuations at the Lagos Business School MBA and Executive Education Programmes as a Resource Person and Harvard Business School as a Guest Lecturer. From 1996, he has served in several international committees on privatization of utilities, oil & gas, and infrastructure in Africa under the auspices of the ABR, World Bank-IFC, ADB and BIA investment conferences. He is the Chairman & President of the Governing Council of the United Way International-Nigeria, an affiliate of the United Way International USA, a Member of United Way International Global Board & Vice-President of Harvard Business School Association of Nigeria.
MR. BLAIZE N. KADURU-VICE CHAIRMAN A licensed Stockbroker in the United States of America, Mr. Kaduru is a holder of the highly coveted Series-7 License for Investment Bankers, Stockbrokers and Financial Consultants. Mr. Kaduru holds M.Sc in Microbiology and MBA in Agricultural Credit Finance from Texas A & M University College Station, Texas. He is also an honours graduate in Microbiology, University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He has at various times worked as an Investment Banker with Investors Diversified Services (IDS), an American Express Company; Financial & Investment Consultant with John Hancock Mutual Life Assurance Company; Stockbroker with J. Robinson & Co., a firm of Regional Stockbrokers and Underwriters in the Southwest of the USA. He is presently the Chairman & CEO of Gridline Communications Holdings Inc., a leading BPL company. Prior to this, he was the Executive Vice-President of International Wireless Incorporated, USA, the parent company of Comstar Cellular Companies in Ivory Coast.
AIR COMDRE S. E. OMERUAH; PhD: - Director. An accomplished Airforce Officer who had a successful career in the Nigerian Airforce. Served the nation in various positions namely Director of Administration, Nigerian Airforce; Federal Minister of information, Youth, Sports, Culture and Social Development; Governor of old Anambra State; Chairman, Nigeria Football Association (N.F.A.); Director, United bank for Africa (U.B.A.) and Director, Nigerian Merchant Bank. Air Commodore Omeruah holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Political Science from Punjab University, India; M.Sc in Political Science from Auburn University, Montgomery, U.S.A. and a Ph.D. in Political Science from University of Lagos, Nigeria. He is the Chairman of various companies operating in different sectors of the economy namely, Fundtech Finance Limited; Ariwa Oil and Gas Limited; Ariwa Petroleum Limited; Seico Shipping Company Limited; etc.
PROFESSOR KAYODE FAMILONI -- Director A graduate of engineering and economics with an MSc and PhD in industrial and monetary economics from the University of Pittsburgh. Professor Familoni,an erudite scholar with over 6 books and sixty major international publications to his credit, has served on strategic policy boards, both in Nigeria and a good number of international organizations. He was the Head of Department of Economics at the prestigious Univeristy of Lagos during which time the post graduate curriculum was successfully revised and made effectively stronger theoretically and more practical for the public and private sectors of developing countries. He is the founding President & CEO of the Nigeria--USA Council on Foreign Relations. LADY JULIANA N. ANEKE – Director A former First Lady of Imo State, Lady Aneke has had a successful tenure in Management with the African Continental Bank Plc. She has a B.Sc. (Hons) in Business Management from South Eastern University, Washington D.C, having previously obtained a Diploma in both Secretarial and Business Studies from Pitman’s College, Southampton, London. She was the General Secretary of the Naval Officers’ Wives Association (NOWA) and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria. She is presently a Director of Jacyville Nigeria Limited and Emmanuel Onoh Orji Foundation (Health & Education).
MR. MIKE JITUBOH – Director A graduate of the Harvard Business School, Stanford University, and the University of Washington D.C. He has an extensive background in Project Lending and Management. He was also the Director, International Co-operation Department, African Development Bank, Abidjan, Cote D’ Ivoire. He is presently a Director of Devcom Bank Limited and Executive Director, Communications International Limited (CIL), the 0804 GSM wireless telephone company.
